Blast from the past... Egyptian Adventure with Angelina Chimenti...

Three weeks ago on June 21st I started a little epic adventure/vacation as we like to call it... Who is “we” you ask...?
Angelina Chimenti, a friend from Calusa Elementary school back in Miami, FL. We graduated back in 1995 and went our separate ways...

Sometime in 2005 or 2006 we ran into each other on Facebook... Then in Sept 2010 I get a random FB mssg... "Total randomness but I always wonder what you do?" I am guessing this was based on each others FB status updates and pictures.... Thanks FaceBook for the history lesson...
Fast forward to the weekend of January 20st 2011, I am supposed to be snowboarding in Utah or Colorado for my last weekend living in the USA, plans fall though... Talk to my mother that morning and she finds out I am not snowboarding > A few hours later I was on a plane to Miami.... Thx mom!
By coincidence it was Angelina’s birthday that weekend… We ended up meeting up for drinks in Coconut Grove… I was late as hell, confused Boogambilia in Sunset with Green Street… Bla bla bla… Next weekend I fly on a one way ticket from Cincinnati to JFK to Paris to Cairo…. But a little thing called the Egyptian Revolution took place and I ended up staying in Paris for 6days and then Germany (during the weekdays) for 3 weeks… That will have to be left for another post… We ended up talking quite a bit though WhatsApp…. She had always wanted to come to Egypt and had even tried in the past but plans fell though… Next thing you know June 21st Angeline is in Cairo and out Epic Adventure begins…

By the way, Angelina is right now in China so she is not going to see this for another week….

Unfortunately I was not going to be able to pick her up at the airport… She was arriving at noon instead of the usual 11pm flights and I had a bunch of work to finish up before taking off for 12 days… But I felt bad, I had promised that if she came “I will pick you up on my camel from the airport”…. Instead of the camel I was going to have to send my driver…. Well I ended up going to pick her up… Let’s just say I installed both batteries on my work laptop and took 4 global calls from the car in the 3-4hr round trip car ride….. She was surprised….

The next day Angelina was on her own for a private guided tour of the Pyramids, Egyptian Museum and the Khan El Khallil Bazzar… While I was in the office…..

That night we scrambled to go pick up some desert equipment from a co-worker and friend and then scrambled to see the sunset over the Pyramids... Did not work out. We ended up getting dinner at Sequoia which is a really nice restaurant on an island in the Nile river in downtown Cairo... Pics of the restaurants at the end of the trip...

The next day the real adventure begun.... We woke up early and headed off to the desert in the Jeep!

We drove about 1.5 hours south of Cairo towards El Fayoum which is a very large lake in the middle of the desert...

From there we went off road for about an hour until we reached these ruins… Here is a video I found on the net of the ruins. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hhVJZGtDa0

Ok enough for now... These pics were Angelina's... Will take a few days to process more pics and our videos! Next post Ill go more into detail about the adventure and lots more pics!

Till then...
